Those moment that are always the ones we least remember are the ones I love to capture for you. The precious whispers, the softness of your cheeks, the way you smell and the intimate space that you and your baby enter when you welcome them for the first time. Thank you to all of the parents who have allowed me into their space to capture these moments.
Terra Waiting for Grace
Terra and I had the best time exploring some fun ways to photograph her. We had to keep cool as the temperatures in Northern California in September can be stifling. So we spent a little bit of time in Grace's room and then off we went exploring. We had such a great time and I am grateful to have been a part of the miracle that is Grace!
James November 2014
James (Jimmy) as he is called was one of the first babies I was invited to photograph. He was so very calm and just a pleasure to be around and photograph. I was able to capture a bit of what the changing fall leaves looked like on the day that he was born. Love the colors and thankful for Jimmy's safe arrival.
Luke December 2015
This was one of the many babies I had the privilege to capture in 2015. Tender moments as a busy mom are sometimes fleeting. We try but there is always something to tend to...lunches to make...school to teach...dinner to think about and prepare. I was so very excited to have captured a precious moment with Jenna and Luke moments after the family had left and it was just the two of them and of course me. That moment is the essence of the bond between a mother and her newborn. It made me weep. Thank you for sharing that with me.
Welcoming Gwen 2016
This little bundle took a little time to make her appearance but once she did so many family and friend could not wait to hold her and love her. Congratulations...to the Frazier Family for this new addition to your family.
Sometimes circumstances prevent photos from happening in the first 48 hours of a birth. When this happens I make a way to come to the home of the family. This is an intimate space as they invite me into the baby's room and into the space that they occupy with their new baby. Such a sweet time to connect with these parents as they are learning about their newborn.
David Michael Peuse 8/30/16
David..."Beloved" Sometimes I have the privilege of getting to photography a precious newly born baby in their home. This is such a treat for me because I get to see how folks have prepared for their baby. Jessica and Ian did not disappoint as David's room is filled with precious mementos from family and friends. Jessica chose a Woodland theme with precious little critters to bring hours of delight for her sweet boy. The room was a great place for us to take photos with great natural light and their pup also had a say in who was allowed to see her young charge. It was great to spend time with this new family and see how much love they have for their beloved boy. Thank you Jessica and Ian for trusting me to capture a wonderful family memory for you. Please enjoy these photos from our in home shoot.
This happy guy was such a joy to photograph along with his older sister. He smiled and gave me such precious looks. He was such a good baby and just the little bit of time that I was with them at their home he was awake and cooing for us. OH...and that dimple in his chin..so cute. I am so thankful for the opportunity to visit and spend time with The Hunter's as they welcome Hezakiah.
It isn't often that you have the pleasure of photographing a person you have known their whole life. The best part is that I was able to capture and photograph her with the birth of her first child. What a blessing and a gift it was that I traveled across the country so that I would not miss a thing. Thank you Mark and Bonita for such a sweet time with your family.
Cousin London getting to hold Lynaya for the first time.
Good Morning World...Grace 2015
I try as much as possible when working with soon to be parents to ask them to keep me posted as to when they are going into labor. I do this because I love to capture either the beginning or end of the day that a child is born. It give the family something that is unique to them and their baby. On the day that Grace was born this was the beautiful sunrise I was able to capture.
Little Téa was welcomed into The Lamb family by big sister, Amani and big sister, Makayla. So many sweet kisses for their new baby sister. They could hardly wait to hold her and snuggle.
Hallie March 2016
So much about this shoot was special. Many of the decor items in Hallie's room had been part of Lindsey's family. They had been re-purposed to fit into this modern day princess' room and it was special with thoughts and care for every detail. She is one loved baby girl.
Penelope April 2015
When I arrived to photograph Miss Penelope I was greeted by her big sister who served me tea and we played a bit before I started shooting. Penelope was so sweet and calm and although I was able to make it to the hospital for photos her parents invited me back for these newly born shots.
Oh the fun I have with the people I photography. One of the things that I love is seeing families come together for a photo shoot. It is a real team effort and it is captured by the camera in such different and unique ways. Then you have the individuals who are looking for photos for a portfolio or just the adventure of finding a fun spot for spontaneous shots. No matter what the reason I'm grateful to be a part of it.
Walking along the Potomac....
Saturday I took off to try to find Alexandria and I was fortunate enough to have a great GPS and favor with no traffic. Ali and I walked along King Street and enjoyed catching up and she indulged me with stopping every 3 minutes to take a photo. She also allowed me the opportunity to take some photos of her too. It was an overcast humid day in Virginia but I still enjoyed spending time with her and seeing the city through her eyes. Thanks, Ali for your time and spending the day with me.
Catch Me Quick....
If you have ever had to catch a butterfly then you know what it is like to try and capture a photo of 6 kiddos. It is funny, creative and lots of smiles wrapped up in a sprint to hurry up and wait. Thankful to have gotten these sweet cousins to settle long enough to get a few shots. Much thanks to the Solomon and Nathan for their help with the littles.
Sensational Soirée ~ Events/Non-Profits
Oh do I love a good party..or if I was living in Paris (I can dream) a soirée. There is so much to capture and all the while taking in the beauty that has been created to commemorate what we are celebrating. As someone who has been managing and planning events I am in a unique position to capture the things that some may miss. I have the privilege of managing several non-profit Facebook pages and I am fortunate to be able to attend many event for them to capture and post for their organizations.
On Stage Vacaville 2016 Annual Members' Dinner
The stage was set and the theme for the dinner was Oklahoma. There was twinkling stars, sunflowers and lots of lace and burlap. I'm grateful for the community that I live in that loves the arts and support it with their funding.
Yolo Farm to Fork Gala at Park Winters
I had the chance to photograph this event for and show support to Slo Food Yolo. It was a lovely evening set at the historic Park Winters. So many local guests to this event and the kindness and generosity that they showed was wonderful. Our hosts from Park Winter also pulled out all the stops to provide a lovely 5 course meal. Great fun and lots of laughter.
Easter at Mondavi 2016
For the last 4 years Valley Church has hosted Easter at the Mondavi Center in Davis. The Mondavi Center is on the campus of the University of California, Davis. it is always a great time and the sound of people praising Jesus is awesome. Doing church at this venue is always a treat.
Pastor Appreciation 2016
...Beautiful are those who bring the Good News...
October is the month for celebrating and honoring those who serve our community through our churches and synagogues. During this month Vacaville Christian Schools rolls out the red carpet so to speak and the entire school for Pre-K through High School welcome those who serve their families as ministry leaders. They honor those who are called to be pastors/ministry leaders in the community. The student body comes out in force for "high-fives" and "fist pumps". The chapel time is lead by students along with the prayer. Pledges start chapel with the Pre-K students leading and moves to high school leading worship. There are student speakers who recognize the impact that has been made by these leaders for them and their families. This time puts wind beneath the wings of those who serve.
And how can people preach unless they are sent? "How beautiful are those who bring the good news!"
Peaches on the Farm
This photo has been one of the most popular this summer. I have entered it into several art shows and have had tremendous acknowledgement from the art community. This photo was taken at an event for www.thecloverleaffarm.com. who I have had the pleasure of meeting while helping photograph for www.slowfoodyolo.com. This was an event to highlight the growing of peaches and other organic foods on the farm.
Just recently this photo was chosen for the 2016 Wayne J. Coleman, Jr. ROOTS Art Award at the Motherlode Art Show celebrating-art-shows-50th-with-special-awards. I am so excited to have been chosen for this award and to share this photo with family and friends.
Woman of the Year 2016
Woman of the Year 2016
Every year Congressman John Garamendi publicly honors women who have done outstanding work in their community. He invites organizations and individuals from each of the eight counties—Colusa, Glenn, Lake, Sacramento, Solano, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba. Such a great group of hard working women that were honored today and so many from Solano County. This year my dear friend, Dilenna Harris was nominated for her contributions to Travis Air Force Base and Solano County. Congratulations, Dilenna for all that you do for our community.
