Those moment that are always the ones we least remember are the ones I love to capture for you. The precious whispers, the softness of your cheeks, the way you smell and the intimate space that you and your baby enter when you welcome them for the first time. Thank you to all of the parents who have allowed me into their space to capture these moments.
Terra Waiting for Grace
Terra and I had the best time exploring some fun ways to photograph her. We had to keep cool as the temperatures in Northern California in September can be stifling. So we spent a little bit of time in Grace's room and then off we went exploring. We had such a great time and I am grateful to have been a part of the miracle that is Grace!
James November 2014
James (Jimmy) as he is called was one of the first babies I was invited to photograph. He was so very calm and just a pleasure to be around and photograph. I was able to capture a bit of what the changing fall leaves looked like on the day that he was born. Love the colors and thankful for Jimmy's safe arrival.
Luke December 2015
This was one of the many babies I had the privilege to capture in 2015. Tender moments as a busy mom are sometimes fleeting. We try but there is always something to tend to...lunches to make...school to teach...dinner to think about and prepare. I was so very excited to have captured a precious moment with Jenna and Luke moments after the family had left and it was just the two of them and of course me. That moment is the essence of the bond between a mother and her newborn. It made me weep. Thank you for sharing that with me.
Welcoming Gwen 2016
This little bundle took a little time to make her appearance but once she did so many family and friend could not wait to hold her and love her. Congratulations...to the Frazier Family for this new addition to your family.
Sometimes circumstances prevent photos from happening in the first 48 hours of a birth. When this happens I make a way to come to them at their home. This is an intimate space as they will invite me into the baby's room and possibly into the space that they occupy with their new baby. Such a sweet time to connect with these parents as they are learning about their baby.
This happy guy was such a joy to photograph along with his older sister. He smiled and gave me such precious looks. He was such a good baby and just the little bit of time that I was with them at their home he was awake and cooing for us. OH...and that dimple in his chin..so cute. I am so thankful for the opportunity to visit and spend time with The Hunter's as they welcome Hezakiah.
It isn't often that you have the pleasure of photographing a person you have known their whole life. The best part is that I was able to capture and photograph her with the birth of her first child. What a blessing and a gift it was that I traveled across the country so that I would not miss a thing. Thank you Mark and Bonita for such a sweet time with your family.
Cousin London getting to hold Lynaya for the first time.
Good Morning World...Grace 2015
I try as much as possible when working with soon to be parents to ask them to keep me posted as to when they are going into labor. I do this because I love to capture either the beginning or end of the day that a child is born. It give the family something that is unique to them and their baby. On the day that Grace was born this was the beautiful sunrise I was able to capture.
Little Téa was welcomed into The Lamb family by big sister, Amani and big sister, Makayla. So many sweet kisses for their new baby sister. They could hardly wait to hold her and snuggle.
Hallie March 2016
So much about this shoot was special. Many of the decor items in Hallie's room had been part of Lindsey's family. They had been re-purposed to fit into this modern day princess' room and it was special with thoughts and care for every detail. She is one loved baby girl.
Penelope April 2015
When I arrived to photograph Miss Penelope I was greeted by her big sister who served me tea and we played a bit before I started shooting. Penelope was so sweet and calm and although I was able to make it to the hospital for photos her parents invited me back for these newly born shots.
Wherever you go there you are....
"Sometimes I arrive just when God's ready to have someone click the shutter." ~ Ansel Adams
One of the things I love is the ability to capture a moment~a sunset~a hug~a babies first smile~a party or event. I carry my camera with me everywhere because you never know when that moment will come and just like that it is gone. I loved this quote by Ansel Adams because in his humility he never saw what he did in photography as anything extra ordinary. He just was at the right place at the right time.
My hope is as I travel along the pathways~highways~byways~life ways that I too can be right where God wants to have someone there to click the shutter.
Reflections of Summer
I'm always sad to see summer draw to a close. I love the fun, and the food, and the colors of summer. I also enjoy the rich, warm colors of fall. They make me want to get a warm sweater on and take a long walk down a tree lined street. I guess that's one of the many reasons I like where I live...fall in downtown Vacaville is beautiful. I will be posting soon from some of my fall walks. Be on the look out for my blog posts!
Sensational Soirée ~ Events/Non-Profits
Oh do I love a good party..or if I was living in Paris (I can dream) a soirée. There is so much to capture and all the while taking in the beauty that has been created to commemorate what we are celebrating. As someone who has been managing and planning events I am in a unique position to capture the things that some may miss. I have the privilege of managing several non-profit Facebook pages and I am fortunate to be able to attend many event for them to capture and post for their organizations.
On Stage Vacaville 2016 Annual Members' Dinner
The stage was set and the theme for the dinner was Oklahoma. There was twinkling stars, sunflowers and lots of lace and burlap. I'm grateful for the community that I live in that loves the arts and support it with their funding.
Yolo Farm to Fork Gala at Park Winters
I had the chance to photograph this event for and show support to Slo Food Yolo. It was a lovely evening set at the historic Park Winters. So many local guests to this event and the kindness and generosity that they showed was wonderful. Our hosts from Park Winter also pulled out all the stops to provide a lovely 5 course meal. Great fun and lots of laughter.
Easter at Mondavi 2016
For the last 4 years Valley Church has hosted Easter at the Mondavi Center in Davis. The Mondavi Center is on the campus of the University of California, Davis. it is always a great time and the sound of people praising Jesus is awesome. Doing church at this venue is always a treat.
Mondavi Center Usher Dinner 2016
At the end of every season the Mondavi Center pull out all the stops and celebrate the people who meet, greet and seat our patrons. These great people make our job at the Mondavi Center so much more richer and fuller because of the many volunteers hours they give. Thank you so much for all that you do.
Peaches on the Farm
This photo has been one of the most popular this summer. I have entered it into several art shows and have had tremendous acknowledgement from the art community. This photo was taken at an event for www.thecloverleaffarm.com. who I have had the pleasure of meeting while helping photograph for www.slowfoodyolo.com. This was an event to highlight the growing of peaches and other organic foods on the farm.
Just recently this photo was chosen for the 2016 Wayne J. Coleman, Jr. ROOTS Art Award at the Motherlode Art Show celebrating-art-shows-50th-with-special-awards. I am so excited to have been chosen for this award and to share this photo with family and friends.
