Autumn in the South...

Fall has only started to show its beauty here in the South. As I drove around running errands for my folks I saw hints of yellows, browns, rusty reds and burgundy. Oh and green, my favorite! I've shared before my sadness in leaving summer behind and today it was evident that it was moving towards my rear view mirror. I'm fortunate to spend these days with my family but especially with my parents. I think of the season of life that I am traveling and it brings me to a place of wonder and a sprinkling of tears. My wondering is about the many autumn days I've spent looking at the trees and being aware of the details that they have. The many pumpkin patches I've discovered with sweet littles and the smell of apples and rain. The sprinkling of tears are for the road I'm traveling today. It is the love that I have for my family that makes leaving so hard and the awe that moves me when I see the beauty that God has created just for us. Tonight as I write this I am sitting on the back deck watching the clouds roll by and in the air is the smell of rain....the smell of autumn.  When I hear the song, Fire and Rain by James Taylor.....I think of days and nights like today and it transports me.....back here....back to where my family is....and all of the sweet precious memories of my life. I've included a link to Fire and Rain by James Taylor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSqT_PeiV0U
